Our little girl turned 2 last week so we decided to throw her a Moana Birthday Party! If you are a toddler mom or just a Disney lover, then you know what the Moana movie is! Moana is a movie set to fulfill her ancestors quest and discovers her own identity along the way. Since it’s based in a tropical setting we went with a luau/Moana mixed theme.
Table Set Up

I used this green leaves background that set up so easily with no creases and I plan to reuse it for future parties. No table set up is complete without a balloon arch. I think balloon arches are pretty simple and this is my second one making! I purchased the balloon arch kit on Amazon HERE and blew it up with a bicycle pump. They do make convenient balloon pumps like THIS that are even easier to use and worth it if you have to celebrate birthdays several times a year. The Moana cut-out (they also have a Maui one) was a request from hubs and I’m so glad we go it because our girl was SO excited to see it. Finally, to help hide under the table, I used this grass skirt that velcro-ed around the table perimeter which actually can be used again.
Moana Style Food

We had the party 10 am to 1 pm (since it was a toddler’s party) and offered light brunch bites. Here’s a list of the light bites that we had:
Te Fiti Fruit Salad– You can’t ever pass up fruit salad at any brunch/lunch to help even out the sweets!
Hei Hei Chicken Nuggets– We ordered these from Chickfila because DUH they’re the best but you can easily get the frozen ones and pop them in the oven!
Island Donuts– Pineapple’s are 100% Moana but it went with a tropical vibe. We ordered glaze and sugared donuts from my favorite local bakery then popped these toppers in them!
Grandma’s Goldfish– A party filled with toddlers…what toddler doesn’t love goldfish?!
Maui’s Mimosas– We had a pitcher of mimosas for the mamas who wanted to partake in brunch!
Heart of Te Fiti Cupcakes– I followed this tutorial and made them myself! I’m so happy with how they came out.
Kakamora Party Favor Bags

How could I not incorporate the ever famous evil little kakamora coconuts?! I used small brown party bags from Target but you could easily use brown luck bags as well (can be found at the Dollar Store). I then used this printout and cut it out to fit the bags. I used hot glue to stick them on to each bag! Ta-Da!
No party favor bag is complete without the BEST fillers! Since all kiddo guests were under 3, I went with toddler friendly items:
–Playdough– The small ones make for the perfect favor!
-Kids Sunglasses- I grabbed mine in the dollar spot at Target but you could also snag them on Amazon HERE.
-Applesauce Pouches- Easy snack for kiddos to have on the way home after the party!
–Stickers– What kid doesn’t love stickers? I used these and just cut the sheets in half.
–Bubbles– Another crowd winner and I can honestly say we can never have enough bubbles.
Kids Activities
To be honest, we didn’t have any fun games for the kids other than our toddler sized bounce house which kept them busy for a whole 3 hours! But here are some Moana themed party games that would be great:
Moana Costume

We can’t have a Moana themed party without Moana! I got Vivian this Moana costume that was so comfortable for her and SO cute! Also, if you order this one, size up! You could even grab this Maui costume if your party is for a little boy! Lee and I also wore somewhat coordinating outfits within the theme. I saw this “Just an Ordinary Demi-Dad” shirt on Easy and couldn’t pass it up! Thinking he may even wear it to Disney later this year. As for my skirt, I pulled it up so it was more of a midi skirt and it was under $12! You can get that HERE.
Our daughter’s Moana themed 2nd Birthday Party was a hit and everyone loved it! It was extra special to see her light up with all of the Moana decor up. I also loved how you could put a luau spin on it to make it more for for the adults and even ones without kiddos!
